The annual Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari is a legendary four-wheel drive and OHV event. Opening day and night at the 2014 Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari brought high winds and heavy overcast. On Friday, the four-wheeler families and their 4×4 vehicles stayed closer to camp and gathered at the Ocotillo Wells 4×4 Off-Road Training Area for some preliminary challenges. The three day event promised fun, cameraderie and live action four-wheeling for all ages!
The weather changed abruptly before the early Saturday morning lineups. A blue sky and welcoming open air made these day runs appealing. This is late winter/early spring, and many attendees come to the desert to begin their four-wheeling season after months of winter weather.
The Saturday desert run is a Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari tradition! As drivers gather early for the Saturday outing, the talk turns to tires and equipment. 4x4s will get tested thoroughly on this classic run.
The Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari offers a variety of family recreation. The Saturday night raffle is famous, and special attention focuses on children, Veterans and charities. The TDS four-wheel drive club from San Diego County has earned a wide reputation for its organizational ability around this successful annual event!
Back at the Playground for more 4×4 challenges. This is an environment for testing equipment, tires and four-wheeling skills. Many participants come back to these Tierra Del Sol outings annually. The three-day weekend is nonstop activity and fun for the whole family!
