Video Workshop: Jeep Steering Knuckle Kingpin Bearing Service

Vintage CJ Jeep 4WD with closed knuckle front axle.

The closed-knuckle vintage Jeep 4WD front axle uses kingpin bearings. Where would there be more closed knuckle front axles than at a Midwest Willys Reunion? I chose kingpin bearing service as the topic for my hands-on service workshop.

In this video coverage from that workshop, I discuss front axle kingpin bearing service needs. In addition to the ‘how-to’ repair of steering knuckles, seals and bearings, I comment on additional causes of front wheel (kingpin) shimmy or “death wobble”. Join us at this presentation from the 2011 Midwest Willys Reunion workshop!
