In this ‘Session Five’ HD video, learn to strike up the torch and begin gas welding with tack welds on 16-gauge sheet metal!

In this session, we begin the welding process. Controlling the molten puddle is the aim. Starting with tack welding, the metal heats to liquid state. The oxygen-acetylene torch provides the molten puddle control.
We dip the filler rod into the molten puddle, at the right time, and the weld takes form. For fusing metal, we can even tack weld without the use of filler material (above). See the process unfold in this HD video session!
In the next session, we’ll take gas welding to forming a bead. Running beads at the right crown, full penetration and the correct width each depend upon heat control.
