Work has always been a Jeep 4WD theme

The 1941-86 Jeep era was the 4×4 utility truck heyday. Defined by three wars and often used as a rugged workhorse, the Willys Pickup, FC models, military Jeep 4x4s and the formidable Jeep CJ (shown) became the standard for tractable performance.

Today, these models are popular for restoration, trail use and general purpose work. The CJ, in particular, ranks high among Jeep off-road enthusiasts and has a wealth of aftermarket product support to keep the marque current.

For owners and enthusiasts, questions about restoration work, upgrades, performance modifications and aftermarket products can be answered in this ‘Q & A’ section.

I took my first driver’s license exam in a 1964 CJ-5 and have owned and completely restored three CJs since, including a book project 1955 CJ-5 and the AMC-era ‘Project Trials Machine’ for OFF-ROAD Magazine back in the ‘nineties. My familiarity with the Jeep models of this era can be an asset to your project, and I am happy to share. In this ‘Q & A’ section, I answer your current and pressing questions, helping to assure your Jeep safety and satisfaction.
