Pre-Race Inspection at the Grand Sierra Resort, Reno, Nevada…The Daly/Falin team heads into its first Ultra4 competition, attempting to qualify for the 2012 King of the Hammers race in February.
For the past year, 4WD Mechanix Magazine has covered the Northern Nevada race team of Rob Daly and Brad Falin. Brad brings Baja and desert racing experience to the effort. Rob has competition rock crawling laurels. Brad’s background also includes VORRA championship successes and crew chiefing for Rod Hall Racing. Brad built his own highly competitive desert race car with a Hummer chassis and big-block Ford V-8 power. His support shop on wheels is widely known at VORRA and other desert race venues. (See the 2011 VORRA MasterPull USA 500 Race coverage.) Brad’s race car and shop are featured at this magazine.
The team paired up and tackled the 2011 Stampede Ultra4 Race as their first effort. Intent on qualifying for the ‘King of the Hammers’ 2012 event, they narrowly missed that goal at the Reno race. Determined, the two headed south to Glenn Helen in October (above) and accomplished their mission…They qualified handily for the KOH race in February! Expect to hear more about this team, their new car under construction for the KOH, and the plan to compete successfully at the 2012 King of the Hammers. 4WD Mechanix Magazine will be the ‘title sponsor’ for the team’s King of the Hammers campaign!
