by Moses Ludel

In time for the rough trail runs and 4×4 challenges at the 2017 Moab Easter Jeep Safari, Superwinch® mounted all-new ‘EXP’ winches on key vehicles.  Filmed at High Desert Auto Repair (Moab, Utah), see the Barlow Adventures and Bestop® Jeep JK Wranglers get fitted with the first EXP units off the assembly line!

The Superwinch® ‘EXP’ debuted at the 2016 SEMA Show.  (See the magazine’s ‘EXP’ winch walk-through with Superwinch® Vice President of Marketing, Scott Salmon.)   At the 2017 Moab EJS, Superwinch® outfitted a half-dozen key 4x4s for the ultimate trail challenges.  At right, the popular Superwinch® Tiger Shark 11500 SR winch has delivered exceptional service in a Barlow Adventures Jeep JK Wrangler.  Advanced features of the EXP takes winching to the next level.

At left, an aftermarket bumper for a Barlow Adventures JK arrives as “raw” steel at High Desert Auto Repair, Moab, Utah.  The shop is one of the region’s only powdercoat facilities.  In just hours, they sprayed and heat flow treated the new bumper with semi-black powdercoat finish.  At right, the new ‘EXP’ winch fits neatly into the bumper’s pocket.

The cables provided with the EXP winch are ample in both stamina and length.  These winches will be offered for trucks and utility 4x4s.  The choice to make the cables longer than the competition was wise.  At right, the winch dimensions and mounting pattern are industry standard.  Consumers seek out a variety of armor and bumper types, and Superwinch® builds these EXP winches to fit a broad spectrum of bumper designs.
