Unsmoke Canada Announces Grant Recipients for 2023 We are excited to announce the 26 organizations that will receive grants through the 2023 Unsmoke Canada Cleanups program. We received requests for more than twice as much funding as there was to gift out as grants, but Unsmoke Canada generously agreed to increase the amount of funding awarded. More than $115,000 will be distributed to support cleanup initiatives across Canada, the highest amount of funding awarded through the annual program since its inception in 2020. The program is a joint effort between TGOF and Unsmoke Canada and has been instrumental in promoting cleaner communities and addressing the issue of litter across Canada. TGOF and BLM Colorado Partner to Enhance Equitable Access & Recreational Opportunities We’re excited to announce our partnership with the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Colorado State Office to expand equitable access and improve outdoor recreation opportunities throughout Colorado. Our initial effort will focus on the Lobatos Bridge Recreation & Interpretive Education Project, a nature-based classroom that will interpret the cultural, historic, and natural heritage of the Rio Grande Natural Area while enhancing public access and recreation opportunities. The project will also formalize motorized access to launch rafts and kayaks. All of the infrastructure and amenities will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Architectural Barriers Act. Our collaboration with local stakeholders highlights how multiple organizations can come together to improve these areas and ensure everyone who wants to can enjoy them. Check out our website for more information. The outdoor recreation sector is massive, contributing some $454 billion to the U.S. GDP, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The nonpartisan research group Headwaters Economics recently unpacked that federal data, and the analysis shows where in the West that impact is especially pronounced. Outside Magazine released a list of 11 of the best hikes in our national parks. As always, thank you for your interest. We hope you all have a great day!
