On September 27, 2014, the N4WDA sponsored a Family Fun Day at the Sparks, Nevada 4Wheel Parts Store. Despite the steady rain, a number of hardy four-wheelers proudly entered their 4x4s in the Show-N-Shine competition. These are hardcore trail vehicles that often double as daily drivers. No “trailer queens” here! Northern Nevada four-wheelers have access to the Rubicon Trail and many other rough backcountry venues. In this HD video, see how these no-frills 4x4s are set up for some of the hardest trails in the Far West!
The Nevada Four Wheel Drive Association hosted a ‘Family Fun Day’ and Show-N-Shine that went undaunted by a steady rain. At right, N4WDA President Larry Calkins presents Joe Dvorsky with a ‘1st Place Long Wheelbase 4×4’ division trophy for a hard trail equipped 1970 Scout 800 4×4.
On the rockpile at the 4Wheel Parts Store! This Jeep ZJ Grand Cherokee took on a challenge every bit as difficult as stretches of the Rubicon Trail—right here at the N4WDA ‘Family Fun Day’! Fortunately, repair parts like a tie-rod end were available just across the parking lot at the 4Wheel Parts store.
Justin Mosely’s 1998 Jeep XJ Cherokee is a no nonsense trail rig. Equipped for hardcore four-wheeling, the Jeep Cherokee took home both the ‘Best Equipment’ and ‘1st Place Short Wheelbase 4×4’ division trophies.
Feeding a crowd is all part of Family Fun Day and a Show-N-Shine. Volunteerism is a cornerstone of N4WDA events and projects. The food fare was grilled hamburgers and hot dogs plus a choice of beverages.
