The Advance Adapters booth at the SEMA Show is always busy! For 2016, a variety of product upgrades and improvements were the focus. Advance Adapters has also added options for popular products like the Atlas transfer cases. Steve Roberts explains the current line of Advance Adapters offerings.
The centerpiece at the booth was the new Cummins R2.8L diesel crate engine package for Jeep and other 4x4s. We cover this diesel engine, interviews with Advance Adapters and Cummins, plus close-up details in a separate video, now available at: https://www.4wdmechanix.com/advance-adapters-and-cummins-2-8l-diesel-engine-conversion-for-jeep/.
Refined and still popular among vintage Jeep owners, the Saturn Overdrive (at left) is now available as a complete unit or as service replacement parts, many of which also fit the original “Warn Overdrive” units. At right is a revamped motor mount that is now easier to fit and weld.
Several transmission and transfer case adapters benefit from refinements and advanced tooling. At Paso Robles, California, Advance Adapters continues to manufacture onshore and to traditionally high U.S. standards. These products reflect constant reinvestment in equipment and state-of-the-art machine tooling. See the magazine’s onsite tour and close-up video links of the Advance Adapters facility, product development and quality control at: https://www.4wdmechanix.com/?s=Advance+Adapters.
The rugged benchmark Atlas transfer case also saw upgrades this year. Two desirable new options are an internal oil pump and sump for trouble-free lube and cooling while flat towing the vehicle plus a new Wilwood mechanical rear driveline caliper and brake rotor. These items increase the reliability and safety of an already legendary gear driven, severe off-road transfer case.
The Atlas intermediate shaft is also improved with a significantly larger diameter shaft and bigger bearings. More rigid and stronger, the new shaft and transfer case upgrades are welcome by high horsepower racers and severe rock crawlers. At right is the popular Advance Adapters SYE unit, built at Paso Robles for U.S. quality with superior machining and materials.
At left are three popular Advance Adapters upgrade products: The heavy-duty replacement cast bellhousing for AMC/Jeep inline sixes and V-8 engines, which includes a provision for a crankshaft position sensor and an external clutch slave cylinder; the new Aisin AX15 transmission available through Advance Adapters; and the gear drive Atlas transfer case. At right are various adapters, including some that replace obsolete OEM types. At far right is the newest offering, the adapter for mating the 50-State emission legal Cummins R2.8L engine to the 4.0L Jeep AX15 or NV3550 transmission. I want to put 2.8 Cummins in my 97 Land Rover can I get something from you to use my drive line
Hi, Kelly…I have seen Land Rover conversions using the R2.8L Cummins engine. My suggestion is to contact “Tech Support” at Advance Adapters, they can share the components available for a conversion. Overall, you’re looking at the need to adapt a transmission to the engine. If that requires changing the transmission to an Aisin AX15, Advance Adapters can provide a new AX15 and the adapter pieces. It then would be necessary to adapt the transmission to the Land Rover transfer case or change to an Atlas transfer case, which is manufactured and available at Advance Adapters.
